Yin Yoga Class
YIN YOGA ~ A softer, gentler form of yoga seems to be quietly on the rise. Come enjoy this 75 minute class. Yin Yoga is essentially a stretching practice that focuses on increasing your flexibility, cooling the body and calming the mind. Stretches are held for up to five minutes. By holding a pose and relaxing into it, you'll gently tug at the deep, dense connective tissues of the body: tendons, ligaments and cartilage, which are drier and less elastic than muscles and difficult to keep healthy. This practice elongates the spine and opens the hips, and is very restorative and rehabilitative for the joints and muscles. Yin Yoga is based on traditional Chinese medicine and the theory that our bodyÃ?Â's network of connective tissue corresponds with the meridians (energy channels) of acupuncture. Therefore, strengthening and stretching connective tissue may be critical for your long-term health by keeping these energy channels - and corresponding organs - functioning optimally. Yin yoga is an excellent complement to other styles of yoga and exercise and is especially good at enhancing your performance in sports such as running, cycling, tennis, golf and skiing. Set to relaxing music, most of the poses are seated and held for 3-5 minutes. This practice leaves the yoga practitioner with an overall sense of lightness, spaciousness and relaxation. Some benefits include a deeper range of motion, an increased flow of energy, healthier joints, improved health, greater strength, reduced stress levels. Beneficial to all. No Yoga experience needed, all levels welcome & encouraged to attend. Your joints will thank you. If you have any questions please call ([masked]) or email me at [masked]

Zumba with Cinthia Walsh-Hamlin
Come join us for Zumba - 10:00 to 11:00 Zumba is a Latin-inspired, dance-fitness class that incorporates Latin and International music and dance movements, which create a dynamic, exciting, and effective fitness system. The cardio based dance movements are easy to follow steps that include body sculpting, which targets areas such as legs, arms, core, abdominals and the most important muscle in the body, the heart. Dancers and non-dancers alike, immediately and easily master a Zumba class because you do not have to know how to dance to succeed at Zumba. Zumba creates an atmosphere that provides a non-intimidating opportunity for non-dancers, new exercisers, or those who have previously hesitated to participate in group classes. All students feel comfortable knowing that you can just go with the flow and enjoy the party. Zumba's passionate and explosive Latin and international music rhythms speak for themselves as they naturally motivate participants during class, which makes them want to return again and again. The reasons Zumba works are: IT'S FUN! Zumba is exercise in disguise. Participants are having so much fun, they do not realize they are exercising. IT'S EASY! Zumba is designed for everyone. Participants of any fitness level, back ground, or age can start to Zumba right away. Zumba's basic steps make it easy for everyone. IT'S EFFECTIVE! Zumba is a cardio-based workout with components of resistance/sculpting training to tone the entire body and achieve any desired fitness goal. Cinthia is an artist, designer, paralegal, who danced for fun. After taking Zumba classes she realized how well she felt, how her body was toning up and how much she looked forward to going to Zumba classes. After getting certified she now want's to share that great feeling with others. You can contact Cinthia at [masked] or [masked] for any questions.

With peaceful, relaxing and calm guidance you can draw your focus away from your busy day and into a calm, relaxed state as you practice deep breathing and relaxation. Come join us for easy supported yoga postures, breathwork and meditation designed to help bring relaxation, a sense of well-being, and healing to the body, mind, emotions, and spirit. This class is appropriate for all levels and no experience is needed. Only by letting go can expansion happen. Being fully supported by blankets and bolsters for several minutes in each posture can we release, open and expand to let go. Restorative Yoga postures allow gravity, stillness and our own life-force to cleanse and purify all of our vital organs through the power of "BEING" rather than doing. In this deeply restorative class expand and rejuvenate your whole sense of self. With interest this class will be offered on a weekly basis. Please visit www.experience-peace. com for all that is offered at the Shanti Shala. Namaste

Kundalini Yoga Class
Sat Nam, Come nourish your soul with Kundalini Yoga. This class is suitable for all. Beginners need not worry: the focus is more on breathing and meditation than on difficult postures. In every posture you have a chance to experience devotion, that's what postures are really all about. Embrace the spirit in you and marvel at the beautiful engineering of your own body. So come and enjoy the results of a Kundalini Yoga Class. Classes are 90 minutes. What is Kundalini Yoga? Kundalini yoga is an ancient science or technology to awaken awareness, it utilizes breathing, mantra (sound and rhythm), mudra (hand postures), asanas (postures) and the beaming power of the mind. All this aids you, the practitioner, to live virtually in harmony with the inner self, the higher self. Ã?Â"Yoga is the union of the individualÃ?Â's unit consciousness.Ã?Â" ~Yogi Bhajan Kundalini yoga is also a tool to achieve self mastery, and one of the oldest forms of human development. All yoga sets are designed to work on specific body systems, such as the muscular, skeletal, cardiovascular, glandular or reproductive system. Additionally, each set helps to balance emotional as well as mental patterns, and works towards greater awareness and well being. What you can expect! Enhanced intuition Emotional balance Sense of well being Beauty & Strength Heightened sensory awareness Heightened spiritual sense Increased vitality & energy My Kundalini training was at Kundalini Research Institute in Espanola NM. This is where we learned the fundamental principles and practices of Kundalini Yoga as taught by Yogi Bhajan. By completing this stage makes me a certified instructor of Kundalini Yoga. www.kriteachings.org What Happens During a Yoga Session 1. Tuning in with the Adi Mantra while sitting in a crossed-legged position and hands in prayer pose. You chant Ong Namo Guru Dev Namo (3x) This Sanskirt chant means, I bow to the infinite Wisdom of the Universe; I call upon you. I bow to the divine Wisdom within; I call upon you. 2. Warm up exercises a series of exercises or postures to warm up the spine and loosen the body in preparation of performing a Kriya. 3.Kriya a series of postures (asanas in Sanskirt) with intended results, the purpose of which is to transform your state of consciousness. Different breathing techniques are used to benefit the entire body . 4.Relaxation/Meditation There are sometimes opportunities for relaxation between postures providing awareness of the body, sensations, emotions and thoughts. Relaxation is as important as the postures. An extended relaxation and or meditation is done at the end of the kriya. 5.Class ends with a song - Long Time Sun Song May the long time sun shine upon you, all love surround you, and the pure light within you, guide your way on...(repeated twice) So come enjoy an evening of yoga.
